Banana Boat Sunscreen

Banana Boat Sunscreen is known for being a good sunscreen for kids and adults. Keeping your skin protected from the sun is so important because if you get a sunburn it burns living tissues and your skin will start to turn reddish when that takes affect your skin will start to feel like it’s burning. That’s why sunscreen is very much needed, but it’s also important you watch out for bad chemicals or ingredients in sunscreens.

I always thought that Banana Boat Sunscreen covers and protects your whole body from the sun’s radiation. I found that if you get rashes on your body or face after going to the beach or a pool party you may think you are reacting to the water or even something you ate, but it really might be the sunscreen.

This sunscreen contains 20 very different ingredients including fragrance, retinyl palmitate, silica, aloe barbadensis, and ascorbic acid.

Banana Boat Sunscreen receives a rating of 7 on the Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. It isn’t the best rating, but it also isn’t the worst. One of the bad ingredients that makes this a bad product to use is fragrance.

Fragrance can be described as being the item that adds some scent. This ingredient is in shampoo, conditioner, body wash, perfume and more. Most of these products have fragrance in them because there are some people that won’t buy the product unless it has a scent. Fragrance is rated an 8 on Skin Deep.

Studies show that fragrance often contains a chemical that is really bad called xylene, a chemical that is used in airplane fuel. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Safety and Health has done studies on xylene and shown that it is harmful to your breathing and your heart, and toxic to your brain.

Before I did this research, I had no idea of what was going on in this product. If I knew all of this before I bought it, I wouldn’t have bought it. I don’t think that anyone else should buy this product anymore because it has so many harmful elements as ingredients. There are other alternatives that are healthier for you like Nurture My Body Sunscreen, Adorable Baby Clear Baby Sunscreen, Green Screen D Organic, and many more.
